Teen Summer Volunteer Squads

logogreenFor teens entering grades 7-12 in Fall 2019.

Want to add impressive work experience to your college resume? Still trying to complete volunteer hours for school?  Join OFL’s Teen Volunteer Squad this summer! We are looking for techies, marketing moguls, gamers and bibliophiles.

July & August positions available!

All participants (including new and returning teen volunteers) must complete an application– Applications can be picked up at the library or download a copy.

Application deadline extended - due by Monday, July 8th.
Spots still available in Game Squad, Library Marketing Squad and STEAM Show and Tell Squad.

Squad Descriptions:

JULY SQUADS:

  • Gaming Squad
    Are you a gamer? Help us organize gaming events at the library –video game tournaments, chess lessons, family game nights and more. We will even create our own board game to be added to the library’s collection.
    Volunteers must attend at least 3 meetings:
    Mondays at 1:30pm-2:30pm - July 8, 15, 22 & 29
    Additional dates in July or August may be added for gaming tournaments.
  • FULL - No Spots Available: Storytime Squad
    Love reading stories, playing games and making crafts with little kids? Help run a weekly story and craft programs for children ages 3-5. Mrs. Maggie will help lead the storytime, crafts and games. This Squad meets OFFSITE: Onondaga Hill Middle School cafeteria
    Volunteers must attend at least 4 meetings:
    Wednesdays at 10am-11am - July 10, 17, 24, 31 & Aug 7
  • Library Marketing Squad - July
    Calling all library lovers – help us promote your favorite things about the library. Join our marketing team and help us spread the word about the amazing books, programs and everything else you love about the library! Volunteers will help create video commercials, learn to design posters, and more.
    Volunteers must attend all 3 meetings:
    Wednesdays at 3pm-4:30pm -  July 10, 17 & 24
  • STEAM Show & Tell Squad - July
    Love playing with robots and working on science experiments? Explore fun STEAM projects at the library this summer! Then put your new skills to the test – help organize and run a fun technology and science program that you design for young kids.
    Volunteers must attend at least 3 meetings:
    Wednesdays at 1pm-3pm - July 10, 17, 24 & 31

AUGUST SQUADS:

  • FULL - No Spots Available: Book Wranglers
    Love talking about books? This is the squad for you. Help create book displays and work on book projects in the library stacks.
    Volunteers must attend at least 3 meetings:
    Mondays at 1pm-2:30pm - August 5, 12, 19 & 26
  • Library Marketing Squad - August
    Calling all library lovers – help us promote your favorite things about the library. Join our marketing team and help us spread the word about the amazing books, programs and everything else you love about the library! Volunteers will help create video commercials, learn to design posters, and more.
