Junior Library Volunteers (JLV)

The Junior Library Volunteers (JLV) are a teen volunteer group at OFL that helps plan events or assist in service projects. This is a great stepping stone to help prepare for college and future community service. Get involved and tell a friend!

Learn the basics of applying for college for the fall semester and tips on how to survive the first year transition from high school to college.

Answer trivia about underground myths and fictional characters and win prizes!!

Zen Meditation
Saturday, July 13 at 12:30 p.m.
Teens can feel pretty stressed out sometimes. Coping with the pressures in school, at home, among peers can be a little overwhelming. Meditation is a proven way to reduce stress and enhance wellness. Join us as a educator from the Zen Center of Syracuse visits the library to present an introduction to meditation.

Tombstone Rubbing Field Trip
Saturday, July 20, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Join us in taking a field trip to an old local cemetery to examine tombstones from the 19th & 20th centuries. Participants will meet at the library at 12:30 p.m. and library staff will escort them to the cemetery.

"Underground" Movie Double Feature

Archeology in YOUR Town

Ever wondered if something major was discovered in the grounds that lie below us in the Town of Onondaga? Get your answers right here at the library as professional archeologist Daniel Seib presents archeological findings from his current research of the 2010-2011 excavations conducted at the Onondaga County Poorhouse and more!

The Hobbit Party

Babysitters Training
Thursday, Aug. 8, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
This course provide youths, ages 11 to 15, the knowledge and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. Combining video, activities and hands-on training and discussion for a complete learning experience.
Babysitter’s Training teaches youths how to:

Cost: $75 For youths, ages 11 to 15. Registration required.
This course will be taught by Susan Morgan, who has been trained and certified to teach the Babysitter’s Training course by the American Red Cross.
Illustrative Drawing

Do you have a desire to draw? That’s all you need for this class! Join us in welcoming back Chris Pallace of Bent Castle Workshops, as he will teach you how to creatively draw things that may or may not be real… He will show you how to draw right from your imagination.
