Year-Round Reading Program for
Babies, Toddlers & Preschoolers
Launch Date: June 20th
What is it?
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a new program at OFL that promotes reading to newborns, infants and toddlers. It encourages parent/caregiver and child bonding through reading. While 1,000 books may seem like a lot, remember reading just one book to your child a night for a year is already 365! Don’t forget that repeats count, so if your child has a favorite book that you read together over and over, each time you read it, it counts!
Earn Cool Prizes with Your Child!
We offer incentives to children who reach certain reading marks. For every 100 books read and recorded the child will receive a new book. To claim your prizes, submit your child's completed reading logs to library staff.
*THIS SUMMER ONLY* After you read and record 15 books with your child, present your reading log to library staff to redeem a prize- a free ice cream token from Gannon’s Isle or a book.
To sign up, visit OFL and ask for your first reading log (or download it here!).
